Public Holidays 2016 and 2017

We currently have public holidays for 2016 and 2017 listed. Please scroll below to see these lists of holidays.

The Netherlands has only one official public holiday, being the King’s Birthday on 27 April each year. Apart from that, there are a number of holidays generally recognised and provided to employees by their employers each year, including New Year’s Day, Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day.

In addition to these public holidays, employees are entitled to paid annual leave each year, equivalent to four times the number of days they work each week. So if you work a five day week, you would receive 20 days of annual leave; If you work a six day week, you would receive 24 days annual leave; if you work part-time at a rate of three days per week, you would receive 12 days of annual leave each year – and so on.
